The St. Joseph School Board supports and implements the philosophy of St. Joseph School. The board represents parents and the parish community in decisions relating to the direction of the school. The Board is consultative to the school administration and the Pastor. They establish goals and long-range planning, formulate and monitor policy, prepare and implement the budget, are responsible for the school’s public relations, and review and evaluate programs.
Norina Murphy- President
Norina Murphy is serving her 2nd year on the SJS Board. She is married to Nathanael and mother to Zechariah (5th grade) and Brielle (1st grade). Norina is a licensed clinical social worker who owns a group mental health practice in the city of Upland. Norina is also a professor at Cal State San Bernardino teaching in the Master’s of Social Work Program as well as conducts field instruction for Master’s of Social Work students at USC. The Murphy’s have a heart for children, especially here at St Joseph’s and help out in any capacity that they can, from assisting the track and football coaches to co-leading Daisy Girl Scouts here on campus. Norina is serving as President on the St. Joseph School Board this year.
Anthony Trejo- Vice President
Anthony Trejo has two children at St. Joseph’s School – Carlotta (5th grade) and Clayton (1st grade). As a Parent, St. Joseph’s School Alumni (Class of 1983) and a St. Joseph Church Parishioner, Anthony and his wife, Clarissa, also a St. Joseph’s School Alumni, are very involved with activities such as the Fall Festival and Annual G.A.L.A. The Trejo family have a long history of involvement and appreciation for everything that goes into building and improving this school for our children. Anthony is also an employee for the City of Upland for over 30 years. Anthony is serving as Vice-President on the St. Joseph School Board this year.
Anne Rojo- Secretary
Anne Berbano Rojo is serving her 2nd year in the SJS Board and is the current Board Secretary. Anne is the mother of 2 wonderful kids, Alyanna, an 8th grader, and Abigail, a 2nd grader. A Physical Therapist by profession, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree from De La Salle University (Philippines) in 1994. Anne came to the US in 1995, and worked as a registered PT in the states of AR, MO, IL, NY and NJ, in various settings including hospital-based acute, sub-acute and out-patient rehab. She then moved to CA in 2004 to pursue her career in transitional and sub acute care setting specializing in Orthopedic, Neurologic and Geriatric Rehabilitation. In 2013, Anne decided to work as per diem PT, to keep her schedule flexible for her children. Anne and her family are grateful to be given the opportunity to serve our school community, and believes that our school provides excellent faith-centered education.
Mary Hatcher-Skeers is the mother of two St. Joseph graduates, Elana (2015) and Amelia (2018), and a current 7th grader, Katherine. This is her third time serving on the St. Joseph Board where she has served as Secretary, Vice President and President in previous terms. Mary is a Chemistry Professor at the W.M. Keck Science Center of Claremont McKenna, Pitzer and Scripps Colleges and recently began a new position as the co-director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at the Claremont Colleges. In addition to serving on the St. Joseph Board, Mary is the President of the Pomona Catholic Consultative Board and on the advisory board for the Claremont Colleges Chapter of Camp Kesem, a camp for children of parents dealing with cancer. The Skeers family LOVES St Joseph School and are happy to participate in any way they can to continue the tradition of excellent catholic education provide here.
Alexander A. Galvan
Dr. Alex Galvan is a dentist by profession, and the father of 3 St. Joseph School students – Andrea (5th Grade), Andrew (3nd Grade) and Abigail (1st Grade). Alex and his wife Rose are active members of St. Joseph Parish. Together they have served for 10 years as servant leaders of the young adult ministry of Couples for Christ, a Catholic evangelistic ministry.
Harold Miller has been a Mechanical Engineer for over 20 years and a resident of Upland for 20 years. He is married to Heather and together they have 4 wonderful daughters. The Miller family has been a part of the St Joseph’s family since 2004. Harold’s 2 oldest daughters that have gone through St Joseph’s School, one of which is currently pursuing an accounting degree at Cal Poly Pomona and the other is a junior at St Lucy’s in Glendora. Harold’s 2 younger daughters are currently enrolled at St Joseph’s School in 1st and 7th grade.
